The media
Lucas Pombo spent ten years in the media. He saw first-hand how news is made, how public opinion shifts and how a controversy can become a crisis.
They operate in a world of interests, institutions, rules and conversations they cannot always control.

Gavia grew out of experience in the media, work in Congress and technology entrepreneurship. Three perspectives for understanding an organisation’s challenges and addressing them together.

Francisco Gnecco worked in Colombia’s Congress, gaining first-hand experience of how laws are made and public decisions take shape.
Founding a technology company gave him an entrepreneur’s perspective on those decisions. Regulatory friction made the company unable to continue operating, adding a perspective that now informs Gavia’s work.
Our clients’ challenges cross disciplinary boundaries. So does Gavia. That experience taught us to bring communications, public policy and legal strategy together in one solution.
A regulatory change can affect a business, its reputation and its legal position at the same time. We combine these six capabilities to develop a response that connects every dimension of the challenge.
We design and deliver strategies to build a position, communicate decisions and protect credibility. We start with the business and its audiences, aligning communications with each matter’s regulatory and legal implications.
We build strategies around audiences, their interests and the formats they use to learn and engage. Digital is not a copy of traditional communications: it has its own languages and dynamics.
We find stories and give them form. We combine writing, photography, audiovisual production and editing to create content with a clear purpose, made for its audience and channel.
We analyse the political, economic and institutional context to understand what may change and how it affects the business. We identify trends, assess scenarios and anticipate risks to inform communications, public policy and legal strategy.
We study regulations and their effects on the business. Drawing on evidence and technical analysis, we develop public policy proposals and regulatory strategies that connect legal feasibility with economic and social implications.
We work on strategic litigation, competition matters and selected disputes. We define the scope of each engagement and bring together the expertise it requires, with attention to its business, institutional and reputational implications.
For example, a company facing new regulation may need to explain its impact, support a public policy proposal with evidence and define a legal response. We develop all three as part of one strategy.
A clear recommendation may require research, public policy analysis, legal judgement and a communications strategy. We address these dimensions together to develop ideas that can be explained, defended and put into practice.
Clarity is the result of depth.
The partners are personally involved in our clients’ work. They know their businesses, help develop strategies and contribute their experience and judgement to the decisions that matter. Partner involvement is not a privilege reserved for a few clients.
We follow political, economic and judicial developments, the media and digital conversations. We get to know each client’s business to recognise what could affect it, even when the connection is not yet obvious.
The partners work alongside specialist teams that act with autonomy and responsibility. Communications, public policy and legal work are coordinated from assessment through delivery, and we adjust the strategy as circumstances change.
